RICHLAND, Mo. -- A 55-year-old man from Glencoe, Missouri is in a Pulaski
County jail cell today, accused of making threatening statements. The incident prompted a
brief standoff at a truck stop.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department says its deputies got a 911 call shortly after 3:30 a.m. from the Oasis Truck Plaza in Richland.
The caller said that a man had entered the truck stop and became violent after attendants told the man that he could not sell his firearm ammunition in the store.
Pulaski County Sheriff Ronald Long tells KOLR10 that the man threatened to shoot the employees and left the truck stop presumably to get a gun. That was when employees locked the man outside and made the 911 call.
When deputies arrived, they found the man sitting in his vehicle armed with numerous firearms. After a brief standoff, the suspect was arrested for multiple criminal offenses.
Deputies say the man's identity will be released when he is formally charged.
