OZARK, Mo. -- A Purdy, Mo., man who admitted to causing a fatal crash in February 2011 is sentenced to 20 years.

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Gregory Swaffar, 28, to 20 years in prison for 2nd degree Murder and 5 years for each of two counts of 2nd degree Assault. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Swaffar was the driver in the February 19, 2011 crash on Missouri 37, one mile south of Butterfield, that killed Melissa Keif, 10 (right). She was airlifted to Cox South in Springfield where she later died.

Also injured in the crash was the 10-year-old's father, Kenneth Keif, 33, of Washburn. He was driving the vehicle that was struck head on by Swaffar. Another passenger, Sandra Larson, 46, of Shell Knob, was flown to St. John's in Joplin.

Swaffar was originally charged with three counts of 2nd degree Assault. He pleaded guilty in January following a change of venue to ChristianCounty, where he was sentenced Wednesday.

Swaffar is no stranger to drinking and driving. He'd previously been charged with two counts of DWI.
