SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Police are investigating what appears to be the city's 15th homicide of the year.

Around 6 p.m., Springfield officers were called to the 3500 block of S. National Avenue after reports of a man with a gunshot wound.

Police arrived to find the man's body in a parking lot adjacent to the Bradford Park Apartments, just outside the Vision Clinic, near the Great Southern Travel, at Walnut Lawn.

Investigators are treating the man's death as a homicide, and say it isn't clear how many shots were fired. The victim is described as a black male in his mid-20s.

It's unclear if the man lived nearby.
