SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The accelerated kick off to Christmas shopping had many people spending their Thanksgiving camping out or standing in line at Springfield retailers, instead of around the family dinner table.
Outside of Best Buy in south Springfield, 8 or 10 people brought tents and camped out, hoping to be among the first through the door at midnight Friday morning for one of the few 40-inch flat screen televisions for $179.
Lines are also forming outside Target, Walmart, JC Penney and Sears.
Many major retailers moved up their "Black Friday" sales to Thursday night, to take advantage of eager shoppers.
