One mother’s bundle of joy arrived a little earlier than expected, before she even got to the hospital.
“I was planting my garden,” said neighbor Brenda Osler. “My husband came and hollered at me that our neighbor was in labor and I said oh, you're kidding and he said no, why would I kid about something like that"
Osler arrived at her neighbor’s house just in time to help deliver Rebecca’s baby in the driveway of their home.
She says by the time the baby arrived, so had the ambulance. Before he headed off to the hospital, the father, Kirk Marquart, said he was still getting used to the surprise arrival of his baby.
“I’m still kinda beside myself, just kind of absorbing it all,” he said. “It hasn’t really sunk in yet I guess.”
That night the mother was doing just fine at Cox Hospitals. She says she hasn’t decided yet what to name her newborn.
