SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Skeptics and atheists from around the globe are stopping in Springfield this weekend.

The fifth annual Skepticon is being held at the University Plaza Convention Center downtown from November 9-11.

It's the biggest free atheist convention in the nation. The weekend includes speakers, booths, and for the first time, a film festival.

"To have a chance for like-minded people to get together to discuss, to get to meet some of the people who are big in the movement," says Blythe Clutter.

Skepticon 5 has events scheduled through Sunday.

The American Religious Identification survey says the number American adults not identifying with a particular religion is rising.

The amount jumped from eight percent of the U.S. population in 1990 to 15 percent in 2008.
