Heart attack patients may be less likely to have life-saving treatment in states that require more hospital transparency.
That's the finding of a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Researchers looked at 100,000 Medicare patients in ten states.
They found that fewer patients had treatment when hospitals were required to report the outcomes of procedures to open blocked arteries.
But even with the difference in care, there was little difference in patient survival rates.
