Public Hearing Tonight on Plan for Second Hy-Vee Location

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A public hearing is set tonight before the Springfield's Planning and Zoning Commission, on a zoning change for a second Hy-Vee grocery store in town.

The hearing is tonight at 6:30 at Historic City Hall.

The property is in the 2100 block of E. Sunshine, just west of Enterprise.  The 10 acres is currently zoned for residential use.  Developers want to change it to General Retail District for the grocery store and convenience store and gas station, similar to the Hy-Vee store on W. Battlefield.

Developers say Hy-Vee will pay to have a new traffic light installed at Sunshine and Luster and areas of trees and shrubs to buffer the store from the neighborhood.   Read all the documents related to this plan and zoning request, attached below.

One public hearing was held on the plan in mid-September, with some neighbors opposed to the store based on concerns about noise, traffic, and water runoff.
