(Springfield, MO) -- The Missouri State University Board of Governors today is expected to approve an expansion of the University's presence in downtown Springfield.
The board will consider giving its approval to a purchase of five properties.
The "Idea Commons" will run into a neighborhood just north of the square and house the art and design departments.
The University hopes it will become a central point for scientific, artistic and entrepreneurial progress.
The city has already agreed to sell those five downtown properties for $450,000.
