Cards Win Texas League Championship

(Frisco, Tex.) -- The Springfield Cardinals won their first Texas League Championship with a 2-1 win over Frisco in Game 4 on Saturday.

The Cardinals have been in the league for eight seasons.

Scott Gorgen and the Cardinals carried a 2-1 series lead in to the game, and the righty was involved in pitcher's duel with Wilfredo Boscan.

Boscan went 4 1/3 giving up no earned runs, and striking out six.

Gorgen struck out 7 over six scoreless innings, giving up just four hits.

Greg Garcia singled home Jermaine Curtis in the fifth inning to give the Cards a 1-0 lead.

 Mike O'Neill scored in the eighth after a Frisco error.

Chris McGuiness belted a solo shot off of Cards reliever Eric Fornataro in the bottom half, but Fornataro and closer Keith Butler finished it off, giving Springfield a 2-1 win.
