JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- New legislation in Missouri makes it possible for veterans to share their status on their driver's license.

Senate Bill 470 went into effect this week, allowing veterans to obtain a designation of service on the back of their Missouri Driver's License or state ID card.

Veterans can go to any Missouri license office and provide a copy of the DD-214 showing a discharge status -- "Honorable," "General," "Under Honorable Conditions," or "General under Honorable Conditions" -- and pay the fees for the license or card.

The Missouri Veterans Commission can help veterans obtain a copy of their DD-214.

Call 1-866-VET-INFO to speak to a representative or contact the agency online.
