MSU to Award 481 Degrees at Summer Commencement Friday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State University will confer 481 degrees to students at its 2012 summer commencement Friday.

The ceremony is set to begin at 1 p.m. at JQH Arena. It will feature an address from alumna Gabriel Gore, who is a partner at St. Louis law firm Dowd Bennett LLP.

The university says it will award 291 bachelor's degrees, 180 master's degrees, seven specialist degrees and three doctorate degrees. Ten students will be recognized for their work in Missouri State's Honors College.

Scholastic honors will be given to four students who will graduate summa cum laude (with a grade point average of 3.9-4.0 on a 4.0 scale), four who will graduate magna cum laude (with a GPA of 3.75-3.89) and 17 who will graduate cum laude (with a GPA of 3.5-3.74).
