SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Both the Missouri State mens and womens basketball teams are taking a trip to Costa Rica this month.

In fact, both teams will have an open scrimmage Saturday at JQH Arena.

Then they will leave for Central America and their week long stay.

The Lady Bears will play three games against Costa Rica teams.

And also have time for team building activities like white water rafting.

The Lady Bears have six freshman on the roster, and will be trying to fill the void left by Casey Garrison.

So any extra practice and games will help with team chemistry.

"We have to stop and remind ourselves as a staff that it's August first, our seventh practice, not October 15th," said Lady Bears coach Nyla Milleson. "Freshman are making great strides but this will be a great benefit when the season rolls around.."

"It's like a whole separate team from last year with all the new faces," said Lady Bears guard Karly Buer. "So kind of learning how the other players play, getting used to their style of play, and kind of bonding and clicking on the court that's what we're focusing on right now."
