SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Volunteers from around Southwest Missouri came together at The Library Center in Springfield today to become part of the Linus Project.
Named for the lovable Peanuts character who always had his blanket in tow, the Linus Project helps provide blankets for children in need. Volunteers were making blankets that will be donated to the national organization.
The Child Advocacy Center in Springfield is one of the recipients of The Linus Project blankets.
They serve more than one thousand children a year and every child receives a free blanket.
Volunteer Linda Regan says each blanket is made with love "Today we are making a lot of fleece blankets , it can be crocheted , quilts and its volunteers who make the blankets and donate them to Project Linus and Project Linus makes sure they end up in agencies that have a need for blankets for children."
45 blankets have been made so far and other library locations were also participating today in the Linus Project.
