MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- A northwest Arkansas man is charged with choking a
10-year-old girl.
The Baxter County Sheriff says Billy
J. Sanford, 30, of rural Mountain Home, was arrested Sunday evening at 127 Sandstone Circle.
A sheriff's corporal arrived to the
scene of a domestic disturbance report around 4:45 p.m. to find a woman and two children in
the driveway. The woman told authorities Sanford pushed and shoved her and then
assaulted and choked her 10-year-old daughter.
The corporal, along with an officer
with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, asked Sanford to come out of the home to talk
with them. That's when they say there was enough evidence to make an arrest.
Sanford was on active parole with the
Arkansas Department of Community Corrections. The sheriff says Sanford had a .20 gauge shotgun inside the
home.
Sanford is charged with two counts of
Domestic Battery, Possession of Firearm, and Endangering the Welfare of a
Minor.
He's held in
the Baxter County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond. Sanford's next court date is July 26, 2012.
