SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Kids in Springfield got to experience some outdoor summer fun inside at the Library Center Saturday.
This summer's reading program theme is "Dream Big" and camping goes along with it.
The library hosted an indoor camp-out to give kids a taste of what camping is all about.
They had a bear hunt, sang campfire songs , played games, did arts and crafts, and even built edible campfires out of Cheetos , candy, and marshmallows.
Youth Services Manager Sarah Bean Thompson said "Kids in Springfield might not get to have been outside or been to a campfire or been camping before so this is a great way to introduce what camping is and what you would do on a camp out or what you would do on a camping trip if you are with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts or a trip like that."
The only difference between a real camp-out and the one at the library was the kids did not spend the night.
