Carnahan Dismisses Nixon's Endorsement of Democrat Opponent

(Jefferson City, MO) -- Congressman Russ Carnahan says he doesn't care that Governor Nixon has endorsed his opponent in the upcoming Democratic primary.

Carnahan says primaries are won on grass roots organizing, not on high visibility endorsements.

"The most important thing in a Democratic primary is what happens on the ground, and that's what I'm going to stay focused on. And if that gives Congressman Clay some political comfort, then he can focus on that. I'm going to focus on things on the grassroots level that matter."

The Missouri Supreme Court Friday upheld the reconfigured congressional district map that does away with Carnahan's congressional district, placing him into the same district with veteran north St. Louis congressman William Lacey Clay.
