After all the excitement this week with the Oscar nominations, you can still see many of the Oscar-nominated performances at theaters in Springfield.  Chris the Critic of the Missouri Film Alliance is back with information about that, and details of new releases this weekend.

Rob Evans:  Tell about what's new in theaters this week?
Chris -
THE GREY - Liam Neeson is actually QUITE the action star ... A group of oil-rig roughnecks are left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness.
ONE FOR THE MONEY - A dark headed Katherine Heigl stars as a proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum's got plenty of attitude, even if she's been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector.
MAN ON A LEDGE - An ex-cop and now wanted fugitive stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while a hard-living New York Police Department negotiator tries to talk him down.
If you love opera:  3 superstars in Berlin shows Thurs (1/26) & Wednesday (2/1) at 7pm!

Rob - What was king of the box office this past week?
Chris -
#1 = UNDERWORLD AWAKENING
#2 = RED TAILS
#3 = CONTRABAND
#4 = EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE ** Thomas Horn is amazing
#5 = HAYWIRE **Actually quite cool!

Rob - How about new releases on DVD?
Chris -
50/50 - Second week in a row one of last years MOST underrated movies is on DVD.  Inspired by a true story, Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars a 27 year old who discovers he has a rare cancer.  Seth Rogen is his long-time pal who helps him through it.  EXCELLENT MOVIE!!
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 - I ALWAYS love these Paranormals ... great anticipation!
SHAME - Michael Fassbender is a guy who shuns intimacy but is a sex addict and has a mentally unstable younger sister beautifully played by Carey Mulligan.  This is an engaging movie - NOT FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY.
