(Washington, DC) -- A poll indicates most people feel President Obama should not shoulder the blame for the current dismal state of the U.S. economy.
The "Washington Post"-ABC News poll shows 80 percent of the respondents point the finger of blame at banks, financial institutions and corporations.
In addition, 70 percent say consumers are responsible for running up large amounts of debt and also blamed the former Bush administration for not having stricter regulations in place.
Just over a quarter of those surveyed believe the Obama administration is not doing enough to correct the course of the economy.
Some 64 percent expressed confidence that Obama's policies will have a positive impact on the economy.
However, that's a decline from 72 percent just before he took office in January.
The poll of a thousand adults was taken Thursday through Sunday.
