(Washington, DC) -- An amendment offered by Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt to protect patients from medical errors is adopted in the House of Representatives.
He added the amendment during the Energy and Commerce Committee's markup of the Democrats' $825 billion stimulus plan.
It ensures pharmacists can view their patients' medical records in order to reduce medication errors and improve patient safety.
Blunt says pharmacists serve as a last line of defense by catching errors that could lead to harmful side effects.
