Friday, Apr 3, 2009 @10:08pm CDT If you're going downtown this evening you may notice something a little different at the square.
Participants with Relay for Llife are raising money for the upcoming run/walk by selling handmade crafts and t-shirts. Volunteers also lined the Square with purple bags bearing the names of those affected by cancer. Funds from tonight's Relay for Life event benefit the American Cancer Society in Springfield. Organizers say the event is a lot of fun and helps a great cause right here in the Ozarks. Co-Chair of the Springfield Event Michelle Enno says, "we're very excited about this. We love to get the survivors out here and recognize them and the caregivers. It's a huge, fun experience. Once you get out on the track at Hillcrest at the event, you're hooked. We do have a lot of fun." The Relay for Life walk/run event will be at Hillcrest High School May 15th and 16th. For more information call 417-447-1483. |
