Wednesday, May 16, 2007 @08:10am CDT (Springfield) A Mexican national living in Springfield faces up to 30 years behind bars for recruiting illegal aliens to work at his home-improvement company. Santiago Lopez-Gomez, 28, has admitted in federal court to hiring six illegal aliens to work at his business - S.L. Primo's Exteriors in Ozark. Lopez-Gomez - himself an illegal alien - is accused of renting three homes in Ozark in which to house the workers and of paying them to work for him. Lopez-Gomez also faces up to $1.5 million in fines and forfeiture of business profits totaling over $73,000. A sentencing date is pending. |
