Sunday, Oct 19, 2008 @11:31pm CDT (St. Louis, MO) -- Sunday supporters of Barack Obama are condemning Republican rival John McCain's so called robo-calls. Senator Claire McCaskill joined voters known as Republicans for Obama in St. Louis. She denounced the recorded phone messages that suggest the Illinois senator is a terrorist among other things. McCaskill says the calls give voters a distorted view of what Obama stands for. John Levis once worked for the Ford administration. He got a call after attending Obama's rally. "And to receive a phone call suggesting that this fellow is aligned himself with terrorists was really offensive," Levis says. McCaskill says, "They are trying to give the impression that Barack Obama was plotting with terrorists to kill people, Americans, and blow up buildings." The calls have drawn heavy criticism even from people who endorse McCain. But Republicans gearing up for McCain's rally in St. Charles this week disagreed. They believe Democrats are over-stating the actual content of the calls; some of which they think is true. |
