     Ted Keller

I'm Ted Keller, Chief Meteorologist for the KOLR10 & Ozarks FOX Weather Lab.  I'm from Chicago, Illinois, where there's a lot more snow and cold! Growing up, I remember taking an interest in weather at an early age.

I never actually aspired to be on television but I know my interest in the subject was heightened by TV weather casters in Chicagoland, such as Harry Volkman and John Coleman, who would get genuinely excited about the weather.

I went to school at Northern Illinois University, a great "hands on" university, meaning the weather office was a gathering place where ideas were bantered back and forth, weather forecasts were made and many a late night was spent tracking big storms! I was director of that office for one year and did some radio work while in school. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology in December, 1984.

As far as broadcasting is concerned, my first job was in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (even colder and snowier!) at WEAU-TV where I worked weekends. In 1986, I was hired by KOLR-TV as Chief Meteorologist and have been here ever since. I received the American Meteorological Society's Television Seal of Approval shortly after my arrival at KOLR10.

I've also been heavily involved in teaching weather at Southwest Missouri State University. I was a lab instructor under Dr. McInnis from 1989 until his retirement. I recently moved to teaching the entire beginning weather course as well as a special Severe Weather course. I like teaching because it keeps my knowledge of weather fine tuned and it allows me to babble on about weather for much longer than the three and a half minutes I usually get for my weather cast!

When I'm not watching weather, I like to fiddle with computers, watch local bands and play an occasional round of golf. I try to play piano when I have time and pick up my blues harp once in a while.

My wife and I have been together since 2000. We like to travel and try new restaurants. We have two beautiful children. Our daughter Marisa, was born in September of 2002 and our newest, Alton, was born in June of 2006. A boy and girl, a nuclear family!
