A popular downtown bookstore is the latest business to close up shop and move.  Well Fed Head Books is changing venues after six years in center Springfield.

It's moving day for thousands of books. "When we moved to Springfield, this was something we always dreamed of doing, and it's a great location for it." says Well Fed Head Owner, Mike Sowers.

But after six years of being a downtown staple to book lovers or those just needing a good read, Sowers says it's time for a new venue.  "Coming up on a new lease, and looking around, and let's examine some other options about different parts of town." says Sowers.

Well Fed Head Books did find a new home in south Springfield at the newly-redesigned Fremont Center.

"For us the big draw is that it's a big shopping area, and we'd like to experiment having our business there." says Sowers.
Another business that wanted to experiment the downtown scene is Global Fayre.

"I do see a lot more traffic from south side and east side, where people are saying oh, I haven't been downtown in years this is great!" says Global Fayre owner Cheri Crump.

She just opened the free trade store last December.  While there is new construction with college station, some businesses haven't been able to stay in downtown but Crump is glad to be here.  "We were a little worried when they closed it and it didn't stop our customers found us." says Crump.

As the shelves become bare, sowers is looking forward to his new location.  "Downtown has definitely been in a transitional period, for the last several years as far as construction but really for us it's going to a place, and trying something new, just feels right to us." says Sowers.

Well Fed Head will open on July 1st in the Fremont Center.
