Thursday, May 29, 2008 @08:21pm CDT One person is in custody after driving his car into a home on Springfield's southwest side.The Highway Patrol says the driver was headed north on Scenic at Westview around 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Witnesses told investigators they saw the driver hit guardrails before crossing into oncoming traffic, hitting fences and then a house. The Highway Patrol says the driver admitted to using inhalants and several duster cans were found in the vehicle. "He definitely damaged two properties. Extensive damage. Looks like it's been moved off the foundation a little bit and the car did penetrate all the way into the house. It's pretty bad." says Trooper Scott Mease, Missouri Highway Patrol.No one in the home was injured. The driver was taken to the hospital with a broken leg and arrested. No charges have been filed yet. But troopers say the driver could be looking at a DWI. |
