(Washington, DC)  --  As lawmakers debate the health care reform bill in the U.S. Senate, Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski is pushing for an amendment to protect the health of women.

   The Democrat's proposal would ensure women get preventative screenings, including mammograms.

   It would also reduce co-payments for preventative health services.

   Senator Mikulski's plan would cost $1-billion over a ten-year period.
