(Washington, DC)  --  As many as nine-thousand troops are reportedly preparing to head to Afghanistan.

The "Washington Post" reports the Marines are expected to be deployed to southern Afghanistan.

President Obama is expected to call this week for between 30- and 35-thousand more soldiers to be sent to the front lines.

Marine General James Conway told troops in Afghanistan this weekend the first reinforcements to that nation will be Marines.
