Reported by: Rob Evans Tuesday, Nov 24, 2009 @08:02am CST We're already thinking about all of the tasty things we'll be eating on Thanksgiving. But thinking about being healthy is often harder for us to do. Rob Evans - Becca Busy from the Ozarks Regional YMCAs is live with us to talk about some wellness tips to help keep us on track through the holidays. Becca, how can we stay healthy over Thanksgiving? Becca - You know, Rob, there are so many ideas out there, I think some of us get overwhelmed by all of the recommendations that we get. But my idea is, make a plan for yourself. I think there's two different kinds of people out there over the holidays - those of us who feast, and those of us who say we're not going to eat anything bad, and get done with the holidays then feel bad that we didn't enjoy it. I think everyone needs to make a plan that works for them. So, eat your pumpkin pie, just don't eat the whole thing. One of the things that works for my family is, we literally salad plates instead of a regular sized plate and that helps us keep our portions down. And we don't feel guilty about going back and getting seconds. One of the things, too, that really helps over the holidays is keeping active. This is a family togetherness time. This isn't just about food, it's about reaching out and reconnecting with loved one who, maybe, we haven't seen for awhile. I'm here at the Y today, getting ready to join my kids back here and do some exercises. We have family yoga, family swim time, there are so many interactive things to do here in the Springfield community to reconnect with your family and stay healthy at the same time.
