According to preliminary data released Saturday, the vampire romance sequel is on track to score one of the biggest weekend totals of all time. The film earned 72-point-seven-million-dollars in the U.S. and Canada Friday, including a record-breaking midnight sales of just over 26-million-dollars. Industry observers say they expect "New Moon" to finish with upwards of 125-million-dollars in sales for the weekend after Saturday and Sunday data estimates are issued early Sunday. The previous record for a single-day opening was 62-point-two million, held by last year's "Batman" sequel, "The Dark Knight."
