  • Court Hearing For Ft. Hood Suspect To Be Held In Hospit...

    Saturday, Nov 21, 2009 @03:05pm CST

(Killeen, TX) -- Fort Hood shooting suspect Nidal Hasan will have his first court hearing today in his hospital room. CNN reports prosecutors requested the pretrial confinement hearing for Hasan.

His civilian attorney, retired Army Colonial John Galligan, says Hasan's commanders have already put him in what is considered pretrial confinement and today's hearing will determine whether that is appropriate.

Galligan says he will argue the pretrial proceedings are being conducted hastily and without enough consideration of Hasan's medical condition.

Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, is accused of killing 13 people and injuring several others during the November 5th shooting at the Fort Hood Army Post near Killeen, Texas. He has not entered a plea to the charges.

Today's hearing will take place in Hasan's heavily guarded room in the intensive care unit at the Army hospital.

Galligan says his client is paralyzed from the waist down after being shot during his eventual capture.
