Reported by: Brian Richardson Friday, Nov 20, 2009 @04:48pm CST (Branson West, MO) -- Poor conditions lead to the closure of an Ozarks animal park. The Stone County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at Predator World on Friday. Sheriff Richard Hill says the park owner failed to register his exotic animals. So, the department wanted to get a fresh count of the inventory. During the search, crews found damage to several cages. The fire department then pulled the permit of occupancy. Hill says if a storm damaged the park and animals got loose, his deputies and the public need to know what they're up against. The sheriff hopes to go over Friday's findings before sitting down with the prosecutor early next week. "See if there's some immediate action that needs to be taken before the public can come back in or if it's something we feel can be worked out over a period of time," says Sheriff Hill. The Humane Society helped identify some of the animals. Failure to register exotic animals is a Class C felony. The park owner was gone during the search. |
