(Springfield, MO) --Springfield city officials plan to give updated information about Thursday's natural gas explosion, during a briefing with reporters this afternoon.

The City of Springfield and City Utilities have scheduled the briefing for 3:00 pm at the site of the blast in the 2500 block of West Chestnut Street. 

One house was demolished by the explosion and 5 to 8 others were heavily damaged.  Some are no longer inhabitable.  Three children were taken to the hospital after complaining of neck pain, but no serious injuries occurred.  The owners of the house that was destroyed were not home at the time.
