Friday, Nov 20, 2009 @04:31am CST (Washington, DC) -- A graduate of Evangel University will head up the investigation into the killings at Fort Hood. Admiral Vern Clark is the retired Chief of Naval Operations. He graduated from Evangel in 1967. Thursday, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates appointed Clark to review the military's systems for identifying destructive activity within its ranks. Army Major Nidal Hanas allegedly went on a killing spree at Fort Hood when he opened fire, killing 13 soldiers and wounding dozens more. Hasan was an Army psychiatrist and was known for vocally opposing his planned deployment to Afghanistan. Clark served as Chief of Naval Operations and on the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2000-2005.
