Thursday, Nov 19, 2009 @11:56am CST (Washington, DC) -- Senator Kit Bond has condemned the Obama administration's decision to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four of his 9-11 co-conspirators in a civilian federal court in New York. The Missouri Republican is Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee and called the move a mistake that could have dangerous repercussions. Bond pointed to warnings by former Attorney General Michael Mukasey about the dangers of relying on civilian courts to combat terror. Mukasey recently urged the Obama administration to, quote, "consider whether the main purpose here is to protect the citizens of this country or to showcase the country's criminal justice system."
