Saturday, Nov 14, 2009 @04:23pm CST (Baxter County, AR) A man convicted of one of the largest animal cruelty cases in the United States is extradited to Arkansas. William Henry Hanson was brought from Johnson County, Missouri to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office Friday night. Hanson and his wife Tammy were convicted of animal cruelty in January, 2006. They became fugitives when they fled from Arkansas before sentencing. The Humane Society spent more than $110,000 and used hundreds of volunteer hours to care for more than 500 animals who were kept in deplorable conditions. William Hanson is scheduled to be in court for sentencing next week. |
