Monday, Nov 9, 2009 @04:38am CST (Washington, DC) -- The vote for the House version of the health care reform overhaul bill was almost fully down party lines. Missouri's congressional delegation reacted to the Saturday night passage over the weekend. Rep. Roy Blunt (R- MO) released a statement late Saturday; "It's families and patients who will suffer most under this government takeover of health care. We should be focused on fixing what is broken in health care by keeping costs low through medical liability reform and improving And Rep. Ike Skelton (D-MO) also reacted to the vote; "I am concerned about the impact the legislation could have on rural hospitals and doctors. I also oppose the creation of a new government run public option and have serious concerns about its potential unintended consequence for Missourians who have private insurance plans. One solution might be for Congress to address health care reform on issue at a time." Both men voted against the House bill. |
