  • Plane Crash in Arkansas Kills Pilot

    Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @03:36pm CST

(Agnos, AR) -- The pilot of a small plane is dead after the aircraft crashed in north central Arkansas this afternoon.

Arkansas State Police say they got a call about 1:40 Friday afternoon from the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, reporting the crash.
The wreckage was found about 1 1/2 miles south of Highway 62-412 near the small town of Agnos, Arkansas.

State police investigators say the pilot was the only person on board.  His body was found in the wreckage of the Zodiac 601XL, a small kit plane.

Investigators said there was no apparent flight plane filed by the pilot, but the flight is believed to have originated out of state.

The name of the pilot, a man, is being withheld until his family is told.  The FAA has been notified.
