(Jefferson City, MO) -- Missouri's state Treasurer is putting out a warning this morning about an email scam.

Clint Zweifel says his office is not sending out emails about unclaimed property.

Apparently, someone is trying to scam people by claiming to be from the Unclaimed Property Division of Missouri and asking for cash and personal information.

While there is such a division, Zweifel says it doesn't send out emails to tell people about their unclaimed property.

The scam has been reported to the Federal Trade Commission and Missouri law enforcement.
