Twenty-one-year-old Keara Bono of Olathe, Kansas has family in Independence, Missouri.

She was shot in the back of the shoulder at a processing center.

She'd just arrived on base a day ago, and called her mom just after the shooting.

She was preparing to leave for Iraq early next month.
