Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @10:24am CST (Jefferson City, MO) The state of Missouri has placed more than 40 historic Blue Books online through the Missouri Digital Heritage Initiative. First printed in 1878, the Official Manual of the State of Missouri - more commonly known as the "Blue Book" - is published every two years by the Secretary of State's Office. When completed, the online collection will include every Missouri Official Manual from 1878 to 2000. Currently, the Blue Books from 1889 to 1972 are available, with more versions being added periodically. Every manual is scanned in its entirety, making available a wealth of information about Missouri's county, state, and federal government officials and agencies. The information is particularly useful for scholars conducting statistical, historical, and political research on the state.
