Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @04:26am CST (Seattle, WA) -- Microsoft says it's going to cut another 800 jobs in addition to the five-thousand positions axed earlier this year. The latest reductions will be spread among Microsoft operations worldwide, but about 200 employees in and around corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington, will be losing their jobs. In January, Microsoft announced five-thousand jobs would be cut with the reductions to be completed before June of next year. A Microsoft spokesperson now says that original plan has simply been expanded with the new layoffs, and has been completed well ahead of schedule. Microsoft's website indicated last month the company employed more than 91-thousand people worldwide. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
