(Pacific, MO) -- A man from Missouri faces charges for allegedly killing and dismembering his girlfriend.

Tuesday, police were called to an apartment complex in Pacific after body parts were discovered in a dumpster.

Stephanie Fields, 26,  lived with Vernall Loggines Jr., in an apartment there.

Investigators believe Loggins stabbed Fields to death before dumping her body.

Friends told police that the couple was having problems and fields was trying to leave Loggins.

He was arrested on Wednesday.
