Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @05:13am CST (St. Louis, MO) -- A student pilot from Canada who stole a plane and flew it to Missouri, violating U.S. airspace will spend two years in federal prison. Adam Dylan Leon was sentenced in U.S. District Court Tuesday. In April, the 31-year-old flew a stolen Cessna-172 from a flight school in Ontario. He ran out of fuel and landed on a rural road near Ellsinore, Missouri. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection plane and two Wisconsin Air National Guard F-16 fighters pursued leon for more than seven hours. The incident triggered the evacuation of the Wisconsin capital. The defense argued for leniency for Leon, saying his actions weren't malicious. |
