Reported by: Charlie Hannema Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @07:45pm CST The Missouri State football team will be looking to bounce back this weekend.
The Bears lost their third straight home game last week, but host Missouri Valley Conference doormat Indiana State Saturday afternoon at Plaster Field. Missouri State is 3-3 in the Valley, with all of its wins away from Plaster Field. Indiana State is just 1-8 on the season, and got shutout by Southern Illinois last week. Even though the Bears won't make the playoffs, they say there is still plenty to play for. "We haven't had a seven win season since I don't know when. You can probably look it up, but it's been a long time. To go out as a senior class that helped build something, start at seven, then next year eight, and build from there would be great," senior defensive back Cedric Alvis said. Head coach Terry Allen added, "Maybe outside sources hyped the three and go to the playoffs a little more than we did as a football team." "Our guys obviously knew they had something to play for, and an opportunity, but you go back and find a way to win this week, and then you go to Southern Illinois. There's a lot of things to play for, and finding a way to get to 7-4 would be great." |
