Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @04:42am CST (Washington, DC) -- President Obama expects more job losses in the coming weeks and months. In a meeting with top economic advisors, Obama predicted more tough times before the long-ailing economy returns to sustained growth. He said, quote, "It's not going to happen overnight but we will not rest until we are succeeding in generating the jobs that this economy needs." Obama said the economy will continue to be his administration's "overriding focus" and noted considerable progress since he was inaugurated. He praised the massive stimulus recovery package he signed in February and said it helped pull the economy back from the brink of catastrophe. The President noted the U.S. is in a tough spot, facing the need to continue stimulating the economy without adding to the soaring federal deficit. He cited the need to find "creative new approaches to financing" enterprises that will help further stimulate economic growth. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) |
