Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @05:55am CST (Blodgett, MO) -- Two southeast Missouri men are dead after a fiery plane crash. The Scott County Sheriff's Department says Paul Fisher and Robbie Rollins of Cape Girardeu died in the crash. Their single engine plane crashed near Blodgett, Missouri. The FAA arrived on scene Sunday to investigate. Investigators say it looks like a wing clipped a building near the air strip as the plane was about to take off. "They did clip the shed and then somersaulted and landed and burst into flames," said Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter. Jerry Tomlinson lives in the area and was at the crash site shortly after it happened. "The plane was pretty much unrecognizable. There was nothing other than the tail" The airport manager says both men were experienced pilots. It could be several months before the NTSB releases more information about the cause of the crash. |
