Sunday, Nov 1, 2009 @03:15pm CST (New York, NY) -- A 26-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly setting on fire a chapel which houses the remains of victims of the September 11 attacks in New York.
Brian Schroeder was arrested Saturday and will be charged with criminal mischief. He is accused of setting fire to part of Memorial Park. The remains of 9-11 victims were untouched in the fire, but police said mementos and benches left by family members were damaged. The unclaimed and unidentified remains which are held at Memorial Park will be moved to the World Trade Center Memorial once it is built. Memorial Park is a large white tent in Manhattan.
