Southeast Missouri Soldier Dies

A soldier from Malden, Missouri has died of injuries he suffered in Afghanistan. The Pentagon today said Army Specialist Robert K. Charlton, 22, died Tuesday at a hospital in Germany, from injuries he received 4 days earlier.
The military says Charlton's wounds were not related to combat, but did not elaborate. An investigation into how he received those injuries is underway.
Charlton was hurt October 23 in Wardak, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), from Fort Drum in New York.
