The Dow dipped 119 points Wednesday. And the Nasdaq shed 56. September new home sales missed the mark. The Commerce Department says sales fell 3.6-percent. Buyers may be worried they won't be able to complete deals before November 30. That's the deadline to take advantage of a tax credit of up to $8,000 for first-time buyers. Congress is considering extending the tax credit for first-time buyers through March 31. Victims of Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme are getting some compensation. More than $530-million has been paid so far to victims of the financier's massive fraud. Trustee Irving Picard says he has identified $21.2 billion in losses. The money being paid to the victims comes from the securities investor protection corporation. Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years in prison. Not even death can come between you and your Facebook page. At the request of friends or family, the social networking site will memorialize the pages of members who have passed away. To convert an account into a memorial page, Facebook will remove contact information and bar other members from logging into the account. Only the deceased members' friends and family would be able to find the profile in a search. |
